From the offset, St Joseph’s has felt like a home. I was warmly welcomed by all members of staff, from the canteen staff through to those in Senior Leadership roles. The friendly and pleasant atmosphere can be sensed immediately, thus making me feel like a part of the team. A vital aspect which encouraged me to take up a position within St Joseph’s, was the strong staff body of young professionals, making it not only a place where I could advance in my career, but also create boundless friendships and social circles.

St Joseph’s is a shining example of a school which you would only dream of starting your career in. Outstanding and innovative leadership from the head teacher has shaped a school that is an exciting place to teach in. Furthermore, exceptional behaviour from all students generates an environment whereby pupils achieve exceptionally well and lessons can be facilitated. with ease. Pupils have many opportunities to develop their creativity, talents and transferable skills outside of the core subjects, through sport, music and languages. Remarkable weekly training and insets for teachers is a foundation in which the school prides itself, and as a result of this my professional development has increased significantly. This training provided is unheard of in Ireland / Northern Ireland, and for that reason you’re constantly progressing and developing as a professional, rather than becoming comfortable and complacent.

Moreover, the support that has been given to me from the St Joseph’s Senior Leadership team has been superb. Furthermore, my NQT Mentor has been forever approachable while offering an abundance of advice when needed. The leadership guidance, support and professional values that I have attained have been extremely beneficial. Feedback on my observations, book scrutinies and NQT file has been provided within the prompt 24 hour period, and support provided where necessary. I’ve received extensive and comprehensive constructive feedback throughout my time in St Joseph’s. Reflecting on this academic year, I have extended and built upon my knowledge, competencies and skills, thus helping me to progress in this profession. I’m delighted I made the correct choice to join an ‘Outstanding’, multi-cultural and inspiring school.
